It's soft not as itchy as i thought, since wool self cleans itself it's not as smelly, dirty and don't need to clean it as often as polyester/synthetic blankets. It's all around seasonal blanket, it keeps me warm in the winter and stays cool during the summer.I'm 6'2" and never in my adult life have I ever had a blanket big enough. If I want to pull it over my head, or scrunch that amount around my neck to seal off open spaces, my feet are not sufficiently covered. Especially when I turn or move. I get drafts and even exposed feet. I wake up cold and have to fix the blankets, and then try to fall back asleep. And, for once I wanted a thick wool blanket that insulates well. Even if it should get wet.I got this blanket a few weeks ago.I hate to use the word love for an inanimate object, so let me just say, I love the feel, warmth and quality of this blanket. I also love the smell of the lanolin or what ever others mention. I wish it didn't go away. It kind of reminds me of when I bought a wolf-hybrid puppy. He was barely old enough to be separated from mommie and siblings. He had a wild smell to him the first couple weeks that either went away, or I got used to.I don't quite know if it's the smell, or how nice it feels when I scrunch some and hold it like Linus might, but a big smile comes across my face.I think about all the back pack campouts I would have loved a smaller wool blanket for around my back while sitting in front of a camp fire. Front is all nice and warm, while my back was cold. To heck with those useless space blankets.I tell ya what though. I just bought another one the exact same size, along with some leather craft thread.I'm going to lay one exactly on top of the other and sew them together. I'll sew all around the outside and then at every square foot in the middle, a quick stitch. This will make it a 16 lb blanket, twice as thick and at least twice as warm.Speaking of weight/thickness, I saw several wool blankets for as much as twice the price and more. Some were more colorful, but they were also half the weight, which means half the thickness and insulation factor.I also saw some smaller ones that were plain color for a much better price if your only considering weight/price, but like I said, they were way too small and kind of ugly. I had a tough time finding one over 90" long (this is 103" x 90"). In my opinion, for me, this is JUST long enough. I wouldn't mind another 10-12" in length. The width is plenty wide enough, at least for one person.I never thought I could be so thrilled with something like a blanket, but here we are.Used it for in the camper. The only thing I didn’t like was the plastic bag it was sent in. The zipper was broken, it was shipped broken. Now I have to buy something to store it in after winter.Perfect blanket! I just got this recently for a snuggler coming into winter. I Couldn’t be happier. Its actually better than I anticipated.and my hopes were high from the reviews. Its the warmest most comfortable blanket Ive ever owned. Its an”instantly yours” thing. That doesnt happen a lot and this is def my best purchase from Amazon in years. Perfect price point. Cosy and very durable. This is not like fleece or velvety plush stuff that I loathe (cheap fake garbage) Its a high quality pure woolen alpaca/sheep blend that is a solid compact weave but wont scratch. Im going to buy another for my queen bed you will not need a duvet with this wrapped around you. I will only ever dry clean this its too good for the laundry so dont let the kids eat yogurt on it. Top drawer. A+Warmest blanket I own.. I purchased this according to my budget for me and my husbands spur of the moment camping and fishing trips... and it was the best addition. We live in NorCAL so the coldest it gets where we travel to is probably like 15 degrees in Tahoe and an average upper 30’s - 40’s in any other place... this blanket is incredibly warm, soft, has no smell, has a medium weight, is attractive, is durable and as of three SUV back in camp weekends is a perfect cold weather blanket. I purchased the King size, totally worth it! Definitely gonna buy another one as a gift for my Moms cross country van.Bought the Full/Queen sized Soft Brown/Camel/Beige blanket which is a nice color.Arrived within 24 hrs with Amazon Prime. Had to put through the dryer's air spin to get some lint out and air out the blanket. It'll take awhile for the smell to disappear. It's still new and will keep it as it appears warm for cold autumn weather. Now, it's wintry cold weather that it's being tested. It's nice and relatively soft and thick. Warmth is relative.Using a fleece blanket on the bottom, then this Alpaca wool blanket on top then a down blanket in a flannel duvet cover on top to keep warm during cold, wintry New England nights.Keep the heat relatively low so it's not expensive and wear flannel PJs and sheets to also keep warm. It's not the warmest but it's not bulky as some down blankets. For warmth, best to use a fleece blanket on the bottom, then layer the wool blanket in the middle and finish with a Thick down comforter on the top. Could put a flannel sheet on top of that to seal in the heat. That should keep you warm enough down to 30s F.Good enough on bare skin, good temperature regulation, all-around excellent blanket. As someone who lives with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, finding 'healthier' and comfortable bedding accessories is not an easy task. This 50% alpaca 50% wool dark brown, carmel, grey striped blanket is not only well-made, it is beautiful and quite soft. I've had this blanket for over one week on my daybed in my den, and it is just the right weight to have a sound sleep. I paired this blanket with GOTS certified organic cotton bed sheets, a real rabbit fur throw 'cover', and a real mongolian fur 18x18 decorative pillow and two naturally tanned 18x18 leather pillows (inserts made of organic GOL certified latex and wool.) So far, I couldn't be more pleased. Thank you Alpaca Warehouse.
